Research Interests: Dr. Jordan Deaner is dual fellowship-trained with a clinical and research focus in uveitis and vitreoretinal surgery. He serves as Co-Director of the Uveitis Unit at Mid Atlantic Retina, the Retina Service of Wills Eye Hospital, and as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. His research bridges the fields of intraocular inflammation, infection, and both medical and surgical retina. He has particular interest in the quantification of inflammation, as well as the optimal diagnosis and management of complex uveitis, integrating both medical and surgical approaches.
 
Beyond his work in uveitis and retina, Dr. Deaner is also deeply interested in geographic and social disparities in access to ophthalmic care, with ongoing projects aimed at identifying and addressing inequities in subspecialty access.
 
Dr. Deaner has served as an investigator in more than 60 clinical trials, evaluating novel therapeutics and drug delivery systems for conditions including geographic atrophy, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and non-infectious uveitis.
