When Nikki Kurland and Marisa Langford envisioned Eyes on the Cure: A Games Day, they wanted to create a fun and meaningful way to support research that could change lives. Hosted at Bala Golf Club, the event brought together friends, family, and community members in support of the Wills Eye Foundation and the groundbreaking retina research led by Jose S. Pulido, MD, MS, MPH, MBA, Wills Eye’s Larry A. Donoso Endowed Chair.

Their efforts culminated in an inspiring day of philanthropy, raising significant support for retinal research and advancing Wills Eye's mission of preserving and restoring sight. The event was made even more meaningful by a surprise anonymous gift of $100,000 to the Joseph I. Maguire, MD Retina Research Fund, honoring a local family affected by inherited retinal disease.

By bringing their community together around a shared purpose, Nikki and Marisa and their families demonstrated the powerful role that grassroots philanthropy can play in advancing medical discovery. Every participant, sponsor, volunteer, and donor helped strengthen the future of retina research and the search for new treatments for blinding diseases.
