Dr. Patel graduated with the highest honors from Penn State University and completed his medical school training at Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital and is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Patel is a scientific reviewer for several major ophthalmology journals including JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and RETINA. He also serves as an assistant editor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Global Ophthalmology Guide. He has authored over 100 publications and textbook chapters on vitreoretinal diseases and has presented his research at conferences across the country.
Dr. Patel has participated as a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials and investigations. He is a member of various ophthalmic societies including the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, the Vit-Buckle Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Society of Retina Specialists.
Dr. Patel remains active in academic research and medical education. First and foremost, he is passionate about providing world class medical and surgical care to his patients.
