Biography

Aditya Kanesa-thasan, MD is a fellowship-trained cataract, cornea, and anterior segment surgeon who sees patients in the Wills Eye Hospital Cornea Service in Philadelphia and the Wills Eye Physicians office in Paoli, PA. He is committed to caring for his patients and providing them with the most up-to-date medical and surgical options for their needs.

Dr. Kanesa-thasan completed his undergraduate training in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University where he graduated magna cum laude and his medical training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He finished his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital and fellowship in cornea, refractive, and external Disease at the highly regarded Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL. He particularly cares about improving and developing medical devices as well as video and simulated surgical education.

He performs cataract surgery along with advanced technologies including multifocal intraocular lenses which can reduce dependence on glasses after cataract surgery, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), LASIK and PRK laser vision surgery, corneal transplantation including partial-thickness corneal transplants (DSEK, DMEK, and DALK), repair of iris and corneal trauma, and corneal crosslinking for keratoconus and related disorders.
