I was invited to Mumbai to test drive the next generation of cataract simulators. HelpMeSee is a company dedicated to eradicating reversible blindness through harnessing technology. Unfortunately, not all ophthalmologists around the world do surgery. Many of the times, this is due to educational gaps in cataract surgery training. HelpMeSee is trying to change that. The goal is for these novel training facilities is to allow many more surgeons-in-training to learn the necessary skills for surgery in a fraction of the time. Once the surgical basics are mastered via simulation, they will be paired with experienced surgeons in the field. The result will hopefully be a streamlined process that creates faster, higher quality surgeons in a fraction of the time and cost.
