Effect on vision of GLP-1 drugs on older adults with diabetes

Sunir J. Garg, MD, co-director of the Retina Research Unit at Wills Eye Hospital, commented on a recent study that found GLP-1 drugs could double risk of severe eye disease in older adults with diabetes. According to Dr. Garg, “This is an interesting study by an excellent group of researchers. They used a large data set from Canada to answer this question, but it’s still too early to say if there is a causative relationship between GLP-1 medications and nAMD."
