WILLS EYE RANKED AMONG THE BEST HOSPITALS BY U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

PHILADELPHIA, July 29, 2025 U.S. News & World Report has recognized  Wills Eye Hospital as a top choice for eye care for the 35th consecutive year. The publication’s annual “Best Hospitals” survey asks ophthalmologists across the nation to select their top recommendations for the most challenging ophthalmic patients.

“It is an honor to be recognized by our peers as one of the nation’s top eye hospitals once again,” said Julia A. Haller, MD, Chief Executive Officer  and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief of Wills Eye Hospital. “This distinction highlights the dedication of our entire team and their commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate care.”

This acknowledgment comes at an exciting time for Wills Eye as it announces a change in leadership for the institution. Dr. Haller has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer and will serve in a dual capacity, continuing as Ophthalmologist-in-Chief. She will oversee patient care, strategic planning, financial performance, and philanthropic advancement for the organization.

Wills Eye Hospital has provided comprehensive care for patients since 1832 when it was established as the nation’s first hospital specializing exclusively in eye care. As a global leader in ophthalmology, the organization serves more than 350,000 patients each year. Since 1972, Wills Eye has served as the Department of Ophthalmology for Thomas Jefferson University’s medical school and has been nationally recognized for its residency program, which has trained the most ophthalmologists of any program in the country.
