Wills Eye Physicians Named to Philadelphia Magazine’s 2024 “Top Doctors” List

Philadelphia – Wills Eye Hospital is recognizing 85 ophthalmologists who have been named to the 2024 Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctors list. Every year, Philadelphia Magazine collaborates with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a nationally respected healthcare research and information company, to create a list of the best doctors in Philadelphia.  The purpose of this list is to help patients make informed choices in their search for excellent care.

Included on this year’s list are two Wills Eye physicians deemed as Rising Stars by Castle Connolly. Drs. John Anhalt, cataract and primary eye care specialist, and Sarah Thornton, neuro-ophthalmology specialist, received this recognition for 2024. Rising Stars are physicians early in their career who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments and dedication to their field.

“The Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctors list is a tremendous resource for patients and their families. The record number of Wills Eye physicians named among this year’s best highlights the quality of care available at all our locations,” said Julia A. Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, Wills Eye Hospital.  “Congratulations to all of the 2024 Top Doctors.”

Individuals named to the Top Doctors list are nominated by their peers and the honorees are published following a nationwide online physician poll. The Wills Eye ophthalmologists recognized for 2024 include experts from the Cataract and Primary Eye Care, Oculoplastics and Orbital Surgery, Retina, Ocular Pathology, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Cornea, Neuro-Ophthalmology, and Ocular Oncology services. The broad range of service areas highlighted on this list underscores the organization’s commitment to providing expert and compassionate patient care.

“It’s great to see rising stars listed alongside longtime industry leaders. This showcases our continued commitment to a robust pipeline of care and innovation,” said Joseph P. Bilson, Chief Executive Officer, Wills Eye Hospital. “The recognition is well-deserved by all. Congratulations to all the Wills Eye physicians appearing on the 2024 Top Doctors list.”
