Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration

This leading cause of severe, irreversible vision loss in people over age 50 typically develops as a person ages. It is often referred to as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Blurred vision, distortion, and eventual loss of central vision make tasks such as reading or driving increasingly difficult.
Cutting-edge retinal imaging tests and a dilated retinal exam permit diagnosis and monitoring of vision in response to treatment.
Wills Eye is at the forefront of new treatments for AMD, including medication injected into the eye for wet AMD.
