Robert S. Bailey Jr., MD
Dr. Robert S. Bailey Jr. is Director of the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Services at Wills Eye Hospital.
Raised in the Philadelphia area, he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. He attended Hahnemann Medical College, and completed his MD. His Internship was served at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. His Ophthalmology Residency was at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was elected to serve as Co-Chief Resident. Upon completion of his residency, he began private practice in Comprehensive Ophthalmology.
Dr. Bailey is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves on numerous committees at Wills Eye, and has an integral role there in teaching surgery to Ophthalmology residents. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.He also currently serves as Chief of Chestnut Hill Hospital's Division of Ophthalmology. His numerous publications, presentations, and lectures focus on cataract and anterior segment surgery and their complications. Dr. Bailey’s practice emphasizes excellence in cataract surgery in both routine and high-risk patients. He also provides meticulous diagnosis and treatment of comprehensive ophthalmology patients.
