TRAFFIC ADVISORY:

President Trump is scheduled to be in Philadelphia on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at The National Constitution Center (NCC) in the Independence Mall area. Increased police presence is anticipated in Center City throughout Tuesday afternoon and evening. Please allow extra time if you are going to Wills Eye. Please be advised of area street closures to vehicles beginning at 1:00PM on Tuesday 9/15. Pedestrian access will also be limited in the area. This is subject to change and area restrictions, which could widen, will be lifted once the President departs the NCC. There are also demonstrations planned for Tuesday 9/15 around Independence Mall as well as City Avenue.

Beeran B. Meghpara, MD

Dr. Beeran Meghpara. is a doctor on our Cornea Service here at Wills Eye Hospital.

He is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract, and laser refractive surgery. Dr. Meghpara performs all forms of corneal transplantation, including partial thickness DMEK and DALK. He has extensive experience with the latest technology in cataract surgery including the femtosecond laser and advanced technology intraocular lens implants that correct astigmatism and presbyopia. He also specializes in blade-less customized LASIK, advanced surface ablation, and phakic intraocular lens surgery to help patients reduce their dependence on glasses and contacts. As a corneal specialist, Dr. Meghpara also treats corneal infections and ocular surface diseases like dry eye.

Dr. Meghpara graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine. After residency, Dr. Meghpara completed a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at the University of Colorado. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and has a faculty appointment at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He has authored numerous articles and delivered lectures at local and national meetings. He is actively involved in teaching our ophthalmology residents on the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital and also covers trauma call at the Wills Eye Emergency Room.
