Joanna M. Fisher, MD is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in general comprehensive ophthalmology and is a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University. Her areas of expertise include anterior segment surgery, cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgery and has completed a mini fellowship in basic and advanced LASIK surgery. As a member of the faculty and teaching staff on the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service at Wills Eye Hospital, Dr. Fisher continues to instruct residents and enjoys training future eye surgeons. She is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Americam Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the recent president of the Intercounty Ophthalmic Society. Chosen by her Wills Eye colleagues, Dr. Fisher carries the distinctive honor of being voted one of Philadelphia's Top Doctors.
Dr. Fisher earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in a combined six-year B.A./M.D. program through Lehigh University. She continued her training with an Internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania, followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Fisher also completed a Mini Fellowship in Basic/Advanced LASIK Surgery. She also been certified to perform cosmetic services including Botox, Juvederm and Voluma.
On the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology and past President of the Intercounty Ophthalmology Society, Dr. Fisher is also a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She volunteers her time in the community at the annual Wills Eye Hospital Give Kids Sight Day.
