Window to Health: Corneal Manifestations of Systemic Illness

Saturday, October 24, 2020 / 8:00 a.m. - 12:oo p.m. ET

LIVE STREAM ONLY

Program Chairs:
Zeba Syed, MD

Conference Description:

This conference will educate participants on specific corneal and anterior segment findings in various forms of systemic disease, including metabolic, autoimmune, malignant, and hematologic illnesses. The goal for this activity will be to inform comprehensive ophthalmologists and anterior segment specialists about key examination features of systemic disease, and the appropriate referrals indicated in these cases. Finally, participants should be able to provide initial counseling about possible systemic implications to patients based on these findings.

At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify corneal and anterior segment features of various forms of systemic disease.
  • Recognize the appropriate medical subspecialist referral (e.g. rheumatologist, endocrinologist, etc.) based on cornea and anterior segment examination findings.
  • Be able to counsel patients on the possible systemic implications of their cornea or anterior segment features.
