The Charles D. Kelman Library serves the Wills Eye community with a variety of resources ranging from a French treatise on eye conditions published in 1722 and Joseph Priestley's 1772 volume The History and Present State of Discoveries Relating to Vision, Light and Colours to access to current electronic journals, texts, and databases. The library collection includes over 10,000 volumes. More than 7,000 of these volumes are bound periodicals. Most of the major ophthalmic journals are available in complete runs from the initial issue, including several titles that began in the 19th century.

The library's monographs include standard medical reference titles, over 2,000 ophthalmology texts, and approximately 1,200 volumes of historical interest. Print material includes a selection of consumer health materials on various eye disorders.

Audiovisual materials are also available for use in the library. The selection includes over 30 slide sets, 20 years of Audio Digest cassette tapes, and more than 150 videos. The video titles include COVE tapes from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as lectures by Wills Eye staff members and tapes from the annual Wills Eye Conference. In addition, there are a variety of DVD and CD-ROM-based materials including pathology slides, atlases, and textbooks.

Available technology includes computers with internet access, a VCR, and a photocopy machine.

The library is a member of the Health Science Libraries Consortium (HSLC), the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM), and the Association of Vision Science Librarians (AVSL). Through these affiliations, the library has access to library collections throughout the world and is able to obtain those materials not available in-house.
