For Physicians
Approximately 300 ophthalmologists and about 150 non-ophthalmic consulting physicians (including specialists in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, etc.) comprise the Wills Eye Medical Staff.
The attending ophthalmologists staff all of our specialty areas. The Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service examines new and returning patients who are diagnosed and treated or, where appropriate, referred to other services. Approximately 20,000 patients are seen yearly in CPEC. Another 13,000 patients are seen annually in the Emergency Room.
Since the 1960's additional subspecialties have included, Cornea, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Oncology, Ophthalmic Pathology, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal, as well as a Low Vision and Contact Lens Department. Over 150,000 patients visit these services yearly.
