Excimer Laser Phototherapeutic Keratectomy

The excimer laser (the same laser used for refractive surgery) can also be used to remove opacities from the surface of the cornea. Patients with corneal dystrophies affecting the front of the cornea, such as granular and lattice dystrophies, or with superficial corneal scars often respond well to this treatment.
