Dry Eye Syndrome

The cornea and conjunctiva require a moist surface to function properly. When they dry out, the eyes become painful and the vision can decrease. There are many reasons for dry eyes to develop, including aging, medications and medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Many treatments are available for dry eye syndrome including topical medications and tear drainage duct plugs.
