Preparing for Your Office Visit with the Retina Service
You may find the following tips helpful in preparing for your office visit:
- Check your appointment date.
- Review your medical history (and your family history). Request a copy of your medical records from your referring physician. Either bring them with you when you come for your appointment, or have them sent to Wills prior to your appointment.
- Write down any questions and concerns pertaining to your eye problems, so that you will remember to consult your doctor during the visit.
- Bring in a list of medications and inform medical personnel of any changes.
- Bring in a pair of sunglasses, because when you come to see a retinal specialist, your pupils will be dilated. After dilation, you will be sensitive to the sunlight.
- Please bring in your insurance cards; if you are enrolled in an HMO, remember to bring in the referral from your primary doctor for your Wills doctor and for Wills Eye Ophthalmology Clinic. If you have any questions regarding your referral, please call us at 215-928-3300.
- Retinal evaluations can be time consuming and often involve additional tests and treatment.
- Please be aware that your visit could last several hours; bring snacks and reading material.
Your time is valuable and our staff will make the best effort to ensure that you will see your
physician as scheduled. But sometimes an unexpected situation or patient emergency may cause a
delay. These emergencies are common here at Wills Eye . We appreciate your patience.
