Ophthalmology Qualifications
An ophthalmologist is a physician who has a medical degree (M.D.), and has chosen to spend several years in additional training in the medical and surgical care of the eye.
As in other medical specialties, an ophthalmologist may also elect to undergo additional subspecialty training in the service of a particular part of the eye, such as the retina, cornea, or neuro-ophthalmology.
