Residency Education

Wills Eye has focused on medical education since it established the nation’s first ophthalmology residency in 1839. Excellence in eye care, treatment and research, factors that define Wills Eye, would not be possible without highly trained doctors. Today, the tradition of educational excellence continues as we train new generation of physicians in the field of ophthalmology. Wills Eye currently has 28 residents enrolled in the three-year program. The cost to educate each resident is over $100,000 per year.
