Charitable Bequests
Bequests are the simplest way to make a planned gift to Wills Eye. There are many ways to include a bequest in your will to the Wills Eye. These include:
- Bequeathing a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate.
- Indicating which assets (such as stock, real estate, etc.) will be gifted.
- Designating that the "remainder" of your estate (after expenses, bequests to family members, etc.) will go to Wills Eye.
Establish a Trust in Your Will
A charitable remainder trust can be set up in your will to provide
income to a spouse, child or other individual. This enables you to
provide family members not only with the security of a steady
income, but also professional investment management. This gift can
yield significant estate tax savings, enabling you to pass on more
to your heirs.
Your attorney can help you prepare your Will and choose the best wording for your particular circumstances.
Following is sample wording for you and your attorney to consider when including the Hospital in your Will.
Unrestricted Bequest
"I give and bequeath to Wills Eye, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (the sum of $___) or (___% of the residue and
remainder of my estate) or (property described herein) to be used for general purposes, as determined by the
Board of Trustees."
Restricted Bequest
"I give and bequeath to Wills Eye, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (the sum of $___) or (___% of the residue and
remainder of my estate) or (property described herein) to be used for _____.
Please contact the Development Office to discuss areas you are interested in supporting or to find out where the need
is greatest. If the Hospital determines that these funds would be better served for its general purposes, the principal
and income may be used for such purposes."
