World Renowned Pediatric Ophthalmologist Dr. Alex V. Levin Returns To Philadelphia Medical Community
Julia A. Haller M.D., Ophthalmologist-in-Chief of the Wills Eye Institute, and Professor and Chair, Department of Ophthalmology, Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, announced the return of Alex V. Levin MD, MHSc, FAAP, FAAO, FRCSC to Wills Eye Institute, effective December 2008.
Joseph P. Bilson, Executive Director, Wills Eye Institute said, "It is an honor to welcome Dr. Levin as chief of the Pediatric and Ocular Genetics at Wills Eye Institute. It was nineteen years ago that he completed his ophthalmology residency here at Wills, following his Pediatric Ophthalmology residency at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia."
Dr. Levin left Philadelphia to specialize in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the famous Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He rose to the rank of professor at the University of Toronto, and holds numerous leadership roles nationally and internationally in Pediatric Ophthalmology and genetics. He is the author of more than 135 papers in peer-reviewed literature, 99 chapters, and five books. He is an internationally renowned lecturer and visiting professor. His special areas of expertise include pediatric cataract, pediatric glaucoma, pediatric uveitis, medical ethics, and the ocular manifestations of child abuse, and genetic diseases which affect the eye in both adults and children.
